Green shows the empty ceremony of open government ritually performed by Westminster politicians who grant interviews to the news cameras on Abingdon Green opposite the Houses of Parliament. Green reworks the meaning of the pejorative epithet ‘Chav’ (Council House And Violent) stereotyping white working class youth as violent and anti-social and returns it to one probable source: the governing class and their news media who also came up with 'The politics of envy' to project and displace their longing for social mobility and individual freedom their investment in their resentful class privilege prevents.
